Capitol Reef Panoramic II

Location:

Panorama Point, Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Notes: The Capitol Reef is part of the 100-mile long Waterpocket Fold - a geologic wrinkle formed at the same time as the Colorado Plateau uplift. The contrast of the reef's red rocks and the white Navajo Sandstone of the Capitol Dome is especially dramatic in the late afternoon light of a thunderstorm like this one.
